DHAKA, May 12, 2026 (BSS) – The University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) has accepted a research project, submitted by Professor Md. Israfil, for funding for the fiscal 2025-2026.
 
“The University Grants Commission (UGC) has nominated your research project for funding for the fiscal 2025-2026,” the UGC confirmed in a letter sent recently to Prof Israfil.

The research project’s title is “Participatory Cultural Interventions as Tools of Rehabilitation: Exploring the Impact of Storytelling, Folk Dance, Singing, Recitation, Performance, and Sports on Juvenile Delinquency in Bangladesh’s Correctional Facilities”.

The UGC wished Prof Israfil’s success in this important research endeavour.

Prof Israfil, a professor of Department of Theatre and Performance Studies at Dhaka University (DU), has recently been appointed as the founder vice-chancellor of Thakurgaon University.
He officially joined the university as the vice-chancellor on May 7 in 2026.
