Students must acquire innovative skills, application-based knowledge: KUET VC

KHULNA, Apr 26, 2026 (BSS) – Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Prof Dr Muhammad Masud, emphasised that mechanical engineering students must acquire innovative skills and application-based knowledge to keep pace with global technological advancements.

He made the remarks as the chief guest at the concluding ceremony of the three-day national mechanical festival “Ignition-2026.”

Organised by the Mechanical Engineering Department of KUET, the closing ceremony of the festival was held at the university auditorium on Saturday evening.

The chief guest said that events like “Ignition-2026” play an effective role in fostering creativity, enhancing problem-solving abilities, and providing practical experience.

He further noted that such competitive platforms help promote collaboration and knowledge sharing and prepare students for future industrial challenges.

Among others, festival convener Prof Dr Mohammad Iliyas Enam, co-convener Prof Dr Mohammad Sultan Mahmud, Director of Student Welfare Prof Dr Md Hasan Ali, teachers of the Mechanical Engineering Department, and students from various universities across the country were present.

The organisers said the festival created an innovation-driven environment by bringing together students from different universities, which would enrich their technological perspectives. They also expressed hope to organise similar events on a larger scale in the future.

Around 1,000 students from 22 universities across the country participated in the three-day festival, showcasing their talent, skills, and innovative ideas.
