Rain likely in parts of country

DHAKA, April 22, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecasted that rain would occur in different parts of the country in next 24 hours commencing from 9 am. 

"Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at few places over Sylhet division and at one or two places in Rangpur and Chattogram divisions with hails at isolated places," a Met office bulletin said.

The bulletin also said weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.

However, day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Rajshahi division and the districts of Tangail, Faridpur, Lakshmipur, Khulna, Jashore and Kushtia and it may continue.

The highest temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 39.5 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi in Rajshahi division while today's minimum temperature was 18.5 degrees Celsius at Sylhet in Sylhet division. 

The sun sets at 6.23 pm today and rises at 5.31 am tomorrow in the capital, the BMD added.
