DHAKA, April 21, 2026 (BSS) - Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintu today met UNESCO delegation in Bangladesh and sought support to protect environment.
The meeting was held at the minister's office at the secretariat.
Dr. Susan Vize, head of office and country representative to UNESCO, Dhaka, headed the UNESCO delegation.
During the views exchange, the minister stressed the need for UNESCO support and collaboration to protect environment and take more effective measures.
The minister also highlighted the government's initiatives including the waste management modernization, water and air pollution control, enforcing Sundarbans protection.
State minister of the ministry Sheikh Faridul Islam was also present at the meeting.
Dr. Susan Vize expressed interest on extending support to the initiatives like Green Campus, Biodiversity Protection and environment education.
He also discussed various aspects of Man and The Biosphere (MAB) and Climate and Smart Education System Initiative (CSESI) to extend support under these initiatives to protect the climate and environment.
Officials from the ministry and UNESCO Bangladesh were present at the meeting.
