DHAKA, April 18, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Textiles and Jute Md Shariful Alam today said the Jute Diversification Promotion Center (JDPC) is playing a significant role in the development of the country's jute sector.

"The government, following the Prime Minister's directive, has taken initiatives to implement a programme to provide jute-made school bags to primary school students, where JDPC is playing a leading role," he said after visiting the JDPC at Monipuripara in Tejgaon.

During the visit, the state minister inspected the overall activities and marketing center of JDPC and provided various directives.

Praising the activities of JDPC, he said the organization is working to improve product quality, develop new designs and create entrepreneurs.

Highlighting the growing demand for jute products in both domestic and international markets, he said JDPC needs to play a more effective role in tapping the potential of the sector.

Managing Director of the Jute Diversification and Promotion Centre (JDPC) Md. Zahid Hossain, Deputy Secretaries Saiful Islam Azad and Shahadat Hossain Kabir, among others, were present on the occasion.
