DHAKA, April 18, 2026 (BSS) – The government has expanded the pilot rollout of the QR code-based “Fuel Pass BD” app to seven more districts, aiming to bring greater transparency and discipline to the country’s fuel distribution system.
In a statement issued on Saturday (April 18), the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources said motorcycle owners in districts beyond Dhaka will now be brought under the digital registration system.
The statement said that motorcycles registered in Dhaka, Dhaka Metro, Chandpur, Chittagong, Chittagong Metro, Barisal, Barisal Metro, Khulna, Khulna Metro, Rajshahi, Rajshahi Metro and Mymensingh districts will now be included in the Fuel Pass BD system.
At the same time, the pilot programme has been extended to 11 more petrol pumps in the capital.
The stations are - Karim and Sons at Shapla Chattar, Eureka Enterprise Filling Station at Mohakhali, Masud Hasan Filling Station at Airport, Sattar and Company at Tejgaon Industrial Area, Kamal Trading Agency at Tejgaon, City Filling Station, Diganta Filling Station at Mirpur Ibrahimpur, S.P Filling Station Limited at Gabtali, Sheba Green Filling Station at Uttara, Sam Associates at Mirpur-2 and Sumatra Filling Station at Mirpur Kalshi Road.
Earlier, the Fuel Pass app was launched on a trial basis at Trust Filling Station at Tejgaon and Sonar Bangla Filling Station at Asad gate.
Later, it was also introduced at Talukder Filling Station at Asadgate, Gulshan Service Station at Mohakhali, Meghna Model Pump at Shahbag, Nikunj Model Service Center at Nikunj and Khalek Service Station at Kalyanpur.
Developed by state-run Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation, the system allows motorcycle riders to purchase fuel using quick response (QR) codes.
The system will also be integrated with the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority database, enabling vehicle-based verification and helping curb irregularities.
