DINAJPUR, April 17, 2026 (BSS) - Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon has issued a stern warning against any form of cheating in the upcoming Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations, stating that strict action will be taken against those responsible if irregularities are found at any examination center.

He made the remarks while addressing a views-exchange meeting with center secretaries and teachers of SSC, Dakhil, and technical examinations, organized by the Dinajpur Education Board at the Shilpakala Academy auditorium here this afternoon.

The minister said he has already received detailed information about examination centers across the country and plans to carry out surprise inspections during the examination period.

“If any evidence of cheating or irregularities is found, strict measures will be taken against the center secretary and the on-duty teachers,” he said.

Emphasizing accountability, he noted that vigilant teachers play a crucial role in maintaining discipline. “If teachers remain alert, no student will dare to engage in malpractice,” he added.

Milon also highlighted the government’s commitment to ending longstanding malpractices, including both student cheating and alleged leniency in marking answer scripts.

“We want to eliminate the culture of unfairly increasing marks and ensure a merit-based system,” he said, stressing the importance of building a competent and well-educated generation.

The minister directed authorities to enforce strict security checks at examination centers to prevent students from entering with unauthorized materials.

He urged center secretaries to act with the highest level of responsibility and assured that the government will take all necessary steps to ensure fair, smooth, and error-free examinations.

Referring to past education policies, he mentioned Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister late Begum Khaleda Zia, saying they had introduced a structured education system which, according to him, had been weakened over time.

He added that efforts are now underway to restore quality in education with the cooperation of teachers nationwide.

Dinajpur Education Board Chairman Professor Md. Touhidul Islam chaired the meeting while Jatiya Sangsad Whip Md. Akhtaruzzaman Mia, Dinajpur-3 lawmaker Syed Jahangir Alam, and Dinajpur-2 lawmaker Md Sadique Reaz spoke as special guests. Officials concerned attended the meeting.

The meeting focused on ensuring a transparent and disciplined environment for the upcoming SSC and equivalent examinations, with authorities reiterating their commitment to upholding integrity in the country’s education system.
