Two more die from measles, 1191 infected

DHAKA, April 16, 2026 (BSS) - Two more people have died of measles in the country in the last 24 hours, according to a press release sent from the control center of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) here today.  

Along with this, six more people are suspected to have died of the disease. 

The release said that in the last 24 hours, 1191 new suspected measles patients have been identified across the country and 92 laboratory-confirmed patients have been found.

It said that from March 15 to April 16, the number of confirmed measles patients was 3,065 and the number of suspected measles patients was 20,352. 

During the same period, 10,496 people have recovered from the hospital and returned home. 

Since March 15, 34 people have died from confirmed measles. During the same period, 172 people have died from suspected measles. 

During this period, the highest number of suspected measles cases was reported in Dhaka Division, where 8,759 people were infected. Out of these, 1,845 people were confirmed to have measles. 

The DGHS is keeping a close watch on the situation and is regularly collecting and analyzing information through the Integrated Control Center. 

In addition to ensuring necessary medical care for patients, the people have been advised to remain aware.
