DHAKA, April 13, 2026 (BSS) - President Mohamamed Shahabuddin has called upon the countrymen to forget their differences and build a non-communal, united and just society.
In a message on the eve of Bangla New Year, he said, Bangla New Year is a universal festival of Bengalis, which is a bright symbol of unity, harmony and non-communal spirit.
The Head of the State said Pohela Boishakh is celebrated as a day of joy and unity for all, transcending the differences of race, religion and caste.
He extended greetings to the countrymen and Bengali-speaking people of the world on the occasion of Bangla New Year 1433.
The President said, “This festival is the keeper of our glorious tradition, culture and identity. And the arrival of Boishakh ushers in new hopes, promises and possibilities—which inspires us to forget the sorrows of the past and move forward”.
“The country has embarked on a new democratic journey through a free, fair and acceptable election,” he mentioned, adding that the government has already implemented various public welfare programmes.
The President termed the ‘Farmer Card programme as a groundbreaking initiative for the development of the agricultural sector.
President Shahabuddin urged everyone to be restrained, patient and responsible in facing various challenges in the current global context.
He expressed optimism for building a developed, prosperous and humane state through collective efforts, honesty and dedication and wished everyone happiness, peace and prosperity in their lives in the New Year.
