DHAKA, April 12, 2026 (BSS) - Classes of first-year undergraduate students of the 2025-26 academic session at Dhaka University (DU) began today.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr Sayma Haque Bidisha addressed orientation programmes of different departments under the Faculty of Science as the chief guest and visited various classrooms.
Deans of various faculties, chairpersons and teachers of the concerned departments were present during the visits.
While visiting classrooms, they exchanged greetings with teachers and students and congratulated the newly admitted students.
They said the students earned the opportunity to study at the university through highly competitive admission tests and emphasized the importance of setting goals from the beginning of university life for the development of knowledge, wisdom and talent.
They also urged students to engage in sports and co-curricular activities alongside academic pursuits and to develop language and organizational skills.
The teachers encouraged students to get involved in social, cultural and voluntary organizations to enhance their overall competencies.
They expressed hope that a skilled young generation would play a key role in building a new Bangladesh.
