JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, April 11, 2026 (BSS) - A daylong mobile photography workshop was held at Jahangirnagar University (JU) today, aimed at enhancing students' skills in visual storytelling using smartphones.
The workshop, organized by leading technology brand Oppo in collaboration with Pathshala South Asian Media Institute, took place at the Department of Journalism and Media Studies from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with participation from over a hundred students, teachers and relevant stakeholders.
Trainers conducted hands-on sessions demonstrating techniques of framing, lighting, composition, visual storytelling and mobile-based editing using Oppo's latest imaging technology featured in the Reno15 Series 5G.
Participants also took part in an interactive session where they applied their learning in real time.
Chairman of the department Mridha Md. Shiblee Noman said the department regularly arranges such training sessions to develop students' practical skills. "We believe this collaborative initiative with Oppo Bangladesh and Pathshala will greatly benefit our students," he added.
Damon Young, Managing Director of Oppo Bangladesh's authorized exclusive distributor, said mobile photography has become a powerful medium of expression for young people, while Pathshala representative Ashraful Awal Mishuk emphasized photography as both a technical skill and a storytelling tool.
Selected participants were awarded based on their creativity and performance at the end of the workshop.
