RAJSHAHI, April 10, 2026 (BSS) - The 12th biennial conference of the Rajshahi University (RU) History Alumni Association began today.

President of the association inaugurated the two-day conference by hoisting the national flag, releasing banners, festoons and flying pigeons in front of the History Department at 9.30 am. 

Association's Chief Patron, RU Vice Chancellor Prof. Md Faridul Islam, along with other guests, was present at the inauguration.

Later, the opening ceremony of the two-day conference was held at the Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium at 10.00 am.

The event was presided over by the association's president, Omar Kabir Kumar and was attended by renowned historian Professor Sharif Uddin Ahmed as the chief guest.

Special guests included the association's patron, RU Pro-VC (Administration) Professor Mohammad Main Uddin and Pro-VC (Academic) Professor Farid Uddin Khan.

Professor Md. Sherezzaman, Chairman of the History Department delivered the welcome speech.

At the event, Alumni Awards, Professor Atful Hai Shibli Scholarships, and prizes were presented to meritorious students of the History Department.

Approximately 300 alumni are participating in this conference.
