DHAKA, April 7, 2026 (BSS) - One more child died of measles in the country in the last 24 hours.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) control centre today.
It said that 1,236 new suspected measles cases were identified across the country in the past 24 hours, while 224 cases were laboratory confirmed.
According to the release, between March 15 and April 7 (till 8am), a total of 1,398 measles cases were confirmed, alongside 9,883 suspected infections.
During the same period, 21 children died from confirmed measles, while 128 deaths were recorded among suspected cases.
The highest number of suspected infections was reported in Dhaka Division, where 4,160 people were affected. Of them, 846 cases have been confirmed as measles.
The total number of recoveries during the period stood at 6,883, the release added.
The DGHS said it is closely monitoring the situation and regularly collecting and analysing data through its Integrated Control Centre.
Alongside ensuring necessary treatment for patients, the health authority has urged people to remain alert and take precautionary measures.
