DHAKA, April 7, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh and the Republic of Korea today signed the Record of Discussion (RoD) and Terms of Reference (ToR) for a project titled “Advanced Project of Rolling Stock Operation and Management in Bangladesh” aimed at enhancing the safety and transportation capacity of Bangladesh Railway.
The agreement was signed at the Economic Relations Division (ERD) in the capital, according to an ERD press release.
Under the agreement, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) of the Republic of Korea will provide a grant of US$ 3.63 million (approximately Tk 45.12 crore) for implementation of the project.
The project will be implemented by Bangladesh Railway under the Ministry of Railways.
The main objective of the project is to improve infrastructure and operational capabilities of Bangladesh Railway to enhance safety and increase transportation capacity through advanced rolling stock operation and management.
Additional Secretary and Wing Chief (Asia, JEC and F&F) of ERD Mirana Mahrukh signed the RoD and ToR on behalf of the Government of Bangladesh, while Assistant Minister for Infrastructure Affairs of MOLIT Seok-gi Kim signed on behalf of the Republic of Korea.
