DHAKA, April 7, 2026 (BSS) – The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has conducted workshops for foreign airlines to strengthen aviation security compliance ahead of an upcoming ICAO audit scheduled later this year.

The three-day workshop series, held from April 5 to 7 at CAAB headquarters, brought together representatives from 36 foreign airlines operating in Bangladesh, said a press release here today.

A total the workshops provided detailed guidance on CAAB’s model SSP framework, including regulatory requirements, compliance obligations and the submission and approval process.

CAAB Member (Security) Air Commodore Md Asif Iqbal, attended as chief guest, while Deputy Director and Chief AVSEC Inspector Mohammad Alamgir delivered the keynote address.

Other speakers included Director (AVSEC Policy and Certification) Iftekhar Jahan Hossain, Senior Consultant Group Captain (Retd.) Khan Shahinul Bari and Security Officer Md Ariful Islam.

Asif Iqbal said the SSP would help foreign airlines maintain internal quality standards, comply with national regulations and demonstrate readiness during audits conducted by CAAB, ICAO or other authorities.

The workshops come ahead of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) audit scheduled from October 26 to November 6, 2026, the first such audit in Bangladesh since 2018.

Officials said ICAO’s security requirements and operational frameworks have evolved significantly since the last review, making enhanced preparedness essential.

Under the National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP), all foreign operators are required to prepare and obtain CAAB approval for SSPs at each station where they operate.

CAAB’s Aviation Security (AVSEC) division has developed a model SSP to facilitate compliance with both national and international standards.
Officials expressed confidence that the initiative would strengthen Bangladesh’s aviation security framework and enhance its standing in global aviation safety and compliance.
