DHAKA, April 7, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General and Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has left Dhaka for Singapore for a routine health check-up. 

He, accompanied by his wife Rahat Ara Begum, departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) by a Singapore Airlines flight at 11:55 pm on Monday, minister's Assistant Private Secretary Md.Younus Ali told BSS.  

He is expected to return home after a week.

In 2015, while in prison, Fakhrul was diagnosed with a blockage in an artery in his neck. After his release, he went to Singapore for treatment. Since then, he has been visiting the country regularly for follow-up check-ups.
