Indian High Commissioner calls on DU VC

DHAKA, April 6, 2026 (BSS) - Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma today held a courtesy meeting with the Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam.

The meeting, held at the Vice-Chancellor's office, focused on education, research, and the expansion of mutual cooperation between the two institutions.

DU Pro-VC (Admin) Prof. Dr. Sayema Haque Bidisha, Treasurer Prof. Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and Acting Director of the Institute of Modern Languages Prof. Mohammad Absar Kamal were also present among others.

During the discussion, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted the numerous similarities between the higher education systems of Bangladesh and India, noting that these commonalities could serve as a strong foundation for future collaborative initiatives. 

He emphasized the potential for joint programs by leveraging parallels in administrative structures, curricula and overall education frameworks.

Prof Dr. Islam also stressed the importance of aligning education with industry demands, calling for the development of modern, market-relevant curricula.

He underscored the need for flexible education systems that allow students to progress gradually through their academic journey and highlighted the importance of enhancing students' soft skills.
