DHAKA, April 6, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed a total of 1,719 cases against traffic law violators during a day-long drive across different areas of the capital.
The operation was carried out on Sunday to ensure discipline on city roads.
Deputy Police Commissioner of the Media and Public Relations Division, N. M. Nasiruddin confirmed the matter.
According to DMP traffic sources, the highest number of cases-422-was recorded in the Motijheel division, followed by 260 in Mirpur, 243 in Wari, 238 in Uttara, and 169 in Tejgaon.
Additionally, 162 cases were filed in Lalbagh, 145 in Gulshan, and 80 in Ramna divisions. The drive also targeted various types of vehicles.
In Motijheel alone, cases included buses, trucks, covered vans, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and motorcycles, with motorcycles accounting for the highest number of violations in most divisions.
Besides filing cases, law enforcement officials dumped 395 vehicles and wrecked 133 vehicles as part of the drive.
DMP officials said such drives will continue regularly to reduce traffic congestion and ensure road discipline across Dhaka.
