DHAKA, April 06, 2026 (BSS) - The 'World Health Day' will be observed tomorrow in a befitting manner across the country.
On the occasion of the day, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Directorate General of Health Services, and non-governmental development organizations working in the field of health have taken up various programmes.
Bangladesh will celebrate the day this year in light of the theme set by the World Health Organization.
This year's theme has been set - 'Science in Health Care, Protecting All Lives'.
In February 1946, the United Nations Economic and Social Council decided to convene an International Health Conference.
In June and July of the same year, the International Health Conference was held and the constitution of the World Health Organization was adopted.
The constitution of the World Health Organization came into force on 7 April 1948.
This day is designated as World Health Day, celebrated locally and internationally.
To mark the day, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has organized a discussion at the Abu Sayeed Convention Center in Shahbagh tomorrow at 10:30 am.
Health and Family Welfare Minister of Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain will be present as the chief guest at the meeting while State Minister for Health Dr MA Muhith will be present as special guest.
Marking the day, the National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh has decided to observe a week-long service week (April 7 to 13).
In addition to medical services, various awareness programs have been taken up throughout the week.
In continuation of this, the foundation will organize a seminar on the topic of 'Sports increase life, heart remains strong' tomorrow.
State Minister for the Ministry of Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque will be present as the chief guest at the seminar.
