DHAKA, Apr 4, 2026 (BSS)-Champions Bangladesh U-20 youth football team will return home from Maldives today (Saturday) evening after winning the coveted title of the SAFF U-20 Championship.

The Bangladesh team is expected to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International airport at 6.35 pm.

To make their historic victory a memorable, the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) decided to give the youth team a formal reception.

An open-roof-top bus procession has been arranged from the airport to welcome the boys in red and green, who made the nation proud by winning the SAFF title. 

The procession will start from the airport and end at Hatirjheel Amphitheater where the reception will be taken place at around 7.30 pm.

As part of celebrating this historic achievement in the country's football, the BFF invited the supporters and the general public to participate in the procession and reception ceremony.

Bangladesh beat India by 4-3 goals in penalty shoot out in the nail-biting final held at National Football Stadium in capital Malé, Maldives on Friday last night.

In recognition of the players' outstanding achievements, the State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque  announced  special cash reward for the Bangladesh youth football team.
