DHAKA, April 2, 2026 (BSS)- Executive Deputy Director of the Center for China Studies Dr. Li Hongmei paid a courtesy call on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A B M Obaidul Islam today.

Another Executive Deputy Director of the institution, Xu Shi Cheng was also present at the meeting held at the VC’s office.

During the meeting, both parties discussed various issues of mutual interest. The talks were focused on preparations for an international conference scheduled to be held on April 7 and 8. 

Emphasis was placed on participation of experts from Bangladesh and China, organizing different academic sessions, and strengthening research collaboration. 

Both sides expressed interest in expanding international cooperation in education and research, including faculty and student exchange programmes and joint research initiatives.

The meeting also discussed China-Bangladesh academic exchange programmes, creating training opportunities for young researchers and students, and undertaking various joint initiatives in the future.

DU VC stressed the importance of enhancing collaboration between Dhaka University and Chinese institutions, expressing hope for further expansion of such initiatives. 

Dr. Li Hongmei, too expressed interest in strengthening cooperation between the two institutions.
