RAJSHAHI, April 1, 2026 (BSS)- The 154th founding anniversary of Rajshahi College was celebrated with great festivity. 

Rajshahi College typically celebrates its founding anniversary on April 1st to commemorate its establishment in 1873. 

On Wednesday at 10am, the day was marked through a colorful program organized by the college administration.
The celebrations often include a colorful, massive procession (rally) featuring students and teachers, formal discussions, and cultural programs aimed at celebrating its history as one of the oldest and top-ranked educational institutions in Bangladesh.

The formal inauguration began with a joyful procession led by the college principal, Professor Dr. Ibrahim Ali. 
Following the inauguration, the anniversary was celebrated by releasing balloons and festoons and cutting a cake.

The event was attended by the college vice-principal, Professor Abu Md. Yunus Ali, the secretary of the Teachers’ Council, Professor Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman, heads of various departments, and other faculty members.

Additionally, representatives from different co-curricular organizations, political groups, and general students from higher secondary, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels of various departments were present.

On the occasion of the anniversary, Principal Professor Dr. Md. Ibrahim Ali said that the founding day of their beloved Rajshahi College is a day of great pride. 

At this special moment, he extended heartfelt greetings and congratulations to all teachers, students, officers, and staff of the college. 

He also respectfully remembered the great teachers whose dedication, sacrifice, and tireless efforts have made the institution one of the leading educational establishments in the country today.

Referring to historical records, Professor Ibrahim Ali said that Rajshahi College was the first institution in this territory to offer courses in various disciplines at the bachelor's and honours levels since 1878 after it was established in 1873 with only six students.
