Additional budget allocated for govt secondary schools

DHAKA, March 31, 2026 (BSS) - The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has allocated an additional budget for the 2025–26 fiscal year to enhance the academic and administrative activities of government secondary schools across the country.

According to an official order issued by the Directorate’s Budget Wing, approval has been granted for the utilisation of the funds.

The allocation will be used to cover administrative expenses, infrastructure repairs, procurement of equipment, and settlement of outstanding dues.

The DSHE stated that under this allocation, schools will be able to clear arrears from the fiscal years of 2024–25, 2023–24 and 2022–23.

The expenditure heads include administrative costs, fuel (petrol, oil and lubricants), travel and transfer allowances, printing and stationery, general supplies and raw materials, as well as machinery and equipment.

The order mentioned that the teachers and staff of the newly nationalized institutions will not be allowed to withdraw any pending salaries or allowances without prior approval from DSHE.

It further stated that the heads of institutions will approve leave for their subordinates, while leave for heads of institutions will be approved by the Directorate.

All expenditures must strictly comply with government financial rules and regulations.

The DSHE also warned that any irregularities in spending the money will result in personal liability for the officers and head of institutions involved in irregularities.

Concerned authorities have been instructed to return any unspent or surplus funds to the government treasury by June 30, 2026.
