DHAKA, March 30, 2026 (BSS) - Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid has emphasized that development projects must be undertaken and implemented with the highest priority on public welfare.

“No one will be spared if any irregularities or corruption occur in the implementation of projects,” he said while presiding over a meeting on the annual development programme (ADP) review at the ministry’s conference room at the Secretariat today.

The minister said that reasons must be identified for projects that have failed to achieve the expected success, and those responsible must be held accountable. He stressed that future projects should prioritize public welfare and involve long-term planning.

Highlighting the importance of restoring soil fertility and protecting soil health to sustain agricultural production, Amin Ur Rashid noted that excessive use of fertilizers has increased soil acidity beyond normal levels, which not only damages soil but also raises production costs.

The minister instructed prompt and effective measures to reduce soil acidity and mitigate its impacts.

The meeting was informed that, in the current fiscal year, the progress of the Ministry of Agriculture’s annual development programme stands at 42.18 percent.

Agriculture Secretary Rafiqul I Mohammed, senior officials of the ministry, and heads of subordinate departments and institutions attended the meeting.
