DHAKA, March 30, 2026 (BSS) – Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon has said that youth are the driving force behind the country’s future and emphasized that proper guidance and training can build a strong, self-reliant, and disciplined nation.

“Work in a coordinated manner to transform youth into skilled human resources and strengthen national development,” he said.

He made the remarks today during a view-exchange meeting with officials of the Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) at the ministry.

The meeting titled “Youth Workforce Development: National Transformation through BNCC,” focused on expanding BNCC activities, improving training frameworks, and increasing youth participation in national development.

Discussions also covered the challenges and opportunities in transforming young people into skilled, disciplined, and patriotic human resources.

The minister highlighted the importance of instilling discipline, leadership, patriotism, and moral values among students, noting that BNCC can play a crucial role in shaping responsible citizens and serving as an effective “defense line” for the country.

He identified drug addiction, lack of interest in education, and student dropout rates as major challenges.

To address these, he stressed the need to expand and strengthen BNCC activities in coordination with the Ministry of Education.

The minister also proposed including BNCC activities under a 180-day program and instructed the implementation of pilot projects in selected upazilas, with plans to expand nationwide based on success.

Milon further noted that BNCC’s focus on technical and vocational education aligns with the government’s broader vision and called for collective efforts to achieve it.

During the meeting, BNCC representatives presented proposals related to infrastructure development, increased training costs, manpower expansion, and extending activities to the upazila level.

They emphasized that existing educational institutions could be utilized to expand BNCC operations across the country at a low cost.
