DHAKA, Mar 30, 2026 (BSS) - The government has issued instructions to protect the playgrounds of all primary, secondary and higher education institutions in the country, ensuring proper use of those and provide opportunities for boys and girls to play.
From now on, the playgrounds will remain open for local boys and girls to play after the activities of educational institutions and on holidays, said an order issued by the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) on Monday according to a ministry letter.
The DSHE directed the heads of all government and private colleges and secondary schools in the country to take necessary measures to this end.
Earlier, a decision was taken in this regard at an inter-ministerial committee meeting.
In a letter sent to the DSHE director general, the ministry said this step has been taken as per the decision taken in the first meeting of the 'Inter-Ministerial Committee' formed to determine and use sports grounds at the city and village levels across the country.
The ministry's letter said the existing playgrounds in primary, secondary and higher education institutions should be protected.
After the regular activities of the institutions are over and on weekly or other holidays, the playgrounds should remain open for local boys and girls to play.
The DSHE order has been sent to the directors, deputy directors, district education officers and upazila and thana secondary education officers across the country.
