DHAKA, Mar 12, 2026 (BSS) - Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Sen today paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir and reaffirmed his country's support for Bangladesh's candidature for the presidency of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) for 2026-2027.
The Turkish envoy met the adviser at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in the city's Tejgaon area this afternoon, said Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Zahidul Islam Rony.
During the meeting, he said, the both sides held fruitful discussions on the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Türkiye, as well as various issues of mutual interest and ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
The adviser and the Turkish envoy exchanged views on expanding collaboration in several key areas, including trade and investment, defence cooperation, education and cultural exchange, technology, and infrastructure development.
They also discussed a number of regional and global issues, particularly challenges faced by the Muslim world, humanitarian cooperation, and the importance of strengthening mutual support on international platforms.
Both sides expressed optimism about further consolidating the historic friendship and cooperation between Bangladesh and Türkiye in the future.
They also affirmed their commitment to working together for the welfare of the people of both countries on the basis of mutual respect, trust and cooperation.
