DHAKA, March 12, 2026 (BSS) - The Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Search and Rescue (SAR) and Rescue and Fire Fighting (RFF) to further strengthen aviation safety and emergency response at airports across Bangladesh.
The MoU aims to enhance cooperation between the two organizations and ensure quick, coordinated and effective rescue and firefighting operations in case of accidents, fires or other emergencies at airports and surrounding areas, according to a press release of the Fire Service.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at the CAAB Chairman’s Conference Room on Level-6 of the CAAB Headquarters in Kurmitola, Dhaka today.
Chairman of CAAB Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq attended the event as the chief guest, while Director General (DG) of FSCD Brigadier General Muhammad Jahed Kamal was present as the special guest.
Director of Air Traffic Management (ATM) of CAAB Md. Shamsul Haque and Deputy Director (Operations and Maintenance) of FSCD Md. Mamunur Rashid signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations.
Under the agreement, both organizations will work together to strengthen aviation safety through rapid response mechanisms, coordinated training, information exchange and technical assistance during emergency situations, the release said.
The collaboration is expected to enhance the country’s capacity to handle potential accidents, conduct rescue operations and carry out firefighting activities in airport areas, it added.
Officials from CAAB, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the FSCD and journalists from electronic and print media were present at the ceremony.
