DHAKA, Feb 11, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General (DG) Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui has directed the force's personnel to firmly resist any attempt to create violence, sabotage or chaos during the upcoming 13th national parliament polls, reaffirming the force's commitment to ensuring a free, fair, impartial and peaceful election.
The instruction came during his visit to several BGB election base camps in Dhaka and its adjoining areas today.
He inspected base camps set up at Mugda Ideal School and College in the capital, Uttara Haji Camp, and Tongi in Gazipur, where he exchanged views with members deployed for election duty.
During the inspection, Siddiqui reviewed the overall preparations of the BGB for the polls, assessed the prevailing law and order and security situation, and evaluated the force's operational readiness to tackle any untoward incidents.
He also inquired about security plans adopted for the election period and provided necessary guidelines to ensure their effective implementation.
Emphasizing professionalism and impartiality, the BGB chief instructed members to carry out their duties with utmost dedication and responsibility.
He made it clear that no negligence or laxity in maintaining law and order would be tolerated.
The DG further ordered personnel to intensify patrols and establish necessary check posts to prevent sabotage or violence, ensuring that voters can cast their ballots in a safe, fear-free and hassle-free environment.
He also urged members to maintain polite, humane and responsible behavior toward voters and the general public.
Expressing confidence in the force, Siddiqui said BGB members would uphold the democratic process by performing their duties with honesty, professionalism and unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property during the election period.
