DHAKA, Feb 8, 2026 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on all forms of meetings, rallies, mass gatherings, processions, human
chains and sit-in strikes in several key judicial areas of the capital in the interest of maintaining public order.
According to a public notification, the restriction has been enforced under Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76)
and will remain effective from tomorrow until further notice.
The ban covers areas in front of the official residence of the Chief Justice (CJ), Justice Bhaban, Judges Complex, the main gate of the Bangladesh Supreme
Court, Mazar Gate, Jame Masjid Gate, the entrance gates of International Crimes Tribunal-1 and Tribunal-2, as well as the Judicial Administration
Training Institute building.
In the notice, the DMP also urged all concerned not to disrupt traffic by blocking roads in the name of various demands and protest programmes.
The order was signed by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali.
Authorities said the move aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and maintain law and order in sensitive judicial zones of the capital.
