JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Feb 2, 2026 (BSS) - Jahangirnagar University (JU) today awarded Deans’ Award and Deans’ Merit Award to students who secured the highest marks and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in the undergraduate (honours) examinations of 2020 and 2021.
JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan handed over the awards to the meritorious students as the chief guest at a ceremony held at 11:00am at the seminar room of Zahir Raihan Auditorium on the campus.
Addressing the programme, the Vice-Chancellor said, “The students who received the Deans’ Award and Deans’ Merit Award had demonstrated academic excellence and would continue to uphold their own reputation as well as that of the university through success in their professional lives.”
He emphasised that alongside merit, students must also practice ethics in their lives, adding that morally enlightened work should be an integral part of their lives.
“I urge the awardees to remain committed to contributing to society and the state, nurture positive thinking and maintain consistency in their actions,” said Prof Kamrul.
Pro-VC (Academic) Prof Dr M Mahfuzur Rahman, Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr Sohel Ahmed, Treasurer Prof Dr M Abdur Rab, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities Professor Dr Md Mozammel Haque, acting Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Professor Dr Md Shamsul Alam, acting Dean of the Biological Sciences Faculty Prof Mohammad Mafruhi Sattar, acting Dean of the Business Studies Faculty Abu Sayef Md Muntaquimul Bari Chowdhuri and Proctor Prof Dr A K M Rashidul Alam were present among others.
The programme was presided over by President of the Deans’ Committee and acting Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof Dr Md Rabiul Islam, while Additional Director of the Students Counselling and Guidance Centre Ameena Islam moderated the event.
At the ceremony, a total of 73 students from different departments and institutes were given the Deans’ Merit Award for securing the highest marks and CGPA in the honours examinations of 2020 and 2021.
Besides, 17 students from different faculties and institutes received the Deans’ Award for achieving the highest marks and CGPA in the same years.
