DHAKA, Feb 2, 2026 (BSS) - Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has greeted all the Muslims in the country and elsewhere across the world on the occasion of the holy Shab-e-Barat, the night of fortune, to be observed tomorrow night.
"I extend my greetings to the Muslim community of Bangladesh and the world on the occasion of the holy Shab-e-Barat," he said in a message issued today.
Prof Yunus said the Muslims observe the night between the 14th and 15th of the Hijri month of Shaban as Shab-e-Barat.
Noting that the holy Shab-e-Barat is a unique opportunity for mercy, forgiveness and spiritual purification in the Muslims’ lives, he said it is narrated in the Hadith that on this night, Allah especially forgives His servants, and that is why this night is believed to be a lucky one.
On this magnificent night, the chief adviser said, Muslims can get closeness to Allah and forgiveness through prayers and charity.
“Through self-criticism and remorse, we can achieve the infinite grace, blessings and forgiveness of Almighty Allah by directing our lives on the right path and by trying to purify ourselves from sins,” he said.
Prof Yunus urged all to take the holy Shab-e-Barat as a unique opportunity to get Allah's mercy, pray for the welfare of the country and the nation and dedicate them to the welfare of humanity.
“Let us illuminate individual, social and national life with the incomparable beauty of Islam, the religion of peace, by shunning all unjust, injustice, lawlessness and superstition,” he said.
“May Almighty Allah forgive and protect us all. Amin,” the chief adviser added.
