Arefin mourns death of journalist Riaz Uddin Ahmed

     DHAKA, Dec 25, 2021 (BSS) - Dhaka University former Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Jatiya Press Club's former president and renowned journalist Riaz Uddin Ahmed.

     In a condolence message, he said the death of Ekushey Padak winning eminent journalist Riaz Uddin created a deep vacuum in the field of journalism.

     Rationale persons like Riaz Uddin are gradually decreasing in society, he said.

     Prof Arefin, also chairman of the board of directors of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), said the new generation journalists have many things to learn from the life and works of Riaz Uddin.

     "I took part in many discussions, meetings, seminars and television talk-shows with journalist Riaz Uddin Ahmed. I saw he was very logical in his thoughts while describing and explaining different local and international issues," he said.

     He prayed for eternal peace of departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to bereaved family.

     Riaz Uddin Ahmed, also former president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), passed away at a city hospital this afternoon after being infected with Covid-19. He was 76.
