DHAKA, Jan 23, 2026 (BSS) - Saraswati Puja, worshiping the Goddess of
knowledge, music, art and culture, is being celebrated in several districts
across the country today amid much enthusiasm, festivity and religious fervor
by members of the Hindu community.
In Bogura, Saraswati Puja was celebrated with devotion and festivity across
the district on Friday.
From early morning, students gathered at various educational institutions and
puja mandaps to offer prayers seeking blessings for wisdom, learning, and
academic success. Following the rituals, pushpanjali was offered, and
traditional hate-khori (hand-holding initiation) ceremonies were organised
for young children.
The puja was observed in a festive atmosphere at several institutions, of the
district including Government Azizul Haque College, Government Shah Sultan
College, Government Mujibur Rahman Bhandari Women's College, Bogura Zila
School, Bogura Government Girls' High School, and BIAM Model School and
College.
Students prayed for the progress of the country and the nation, as well as
for success in their educational lives.
In Meherpur, Saraswati Puja was celebrated with due religious fervour at
various educational institutions in the district today.
The puja began around 11:00 am at several institutions, including Meherpur
Government Girls' High School, Meherpur Government Boys' High School and
Meherpur Government Women's College. Students offered Bani Archana to Goddess
Saraswati, the deity of knowledge and wisdom, praying for enlightenment and
success in education.
At Meherpur Government Women's College, the puja was inaugurated by lighting
the Mangal Pradeep by Vice-Principal Abdullah Al Amin.
Among others, Assistant Professor of the Bengali Department Rupali Biswas and
students Pallabi Kundu, Sahakari Sakari and Anindita Sarkar spoke at the
event.
In Bandarban, Saraswati Puja, one of the major religious festivals of the
Hindu community, was celebrated in the district with due religious solemnity
and various arrangements.
The worship of Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, wisdom, speech and
music, began on Friday morning (January 23) at schools, colleges, temples,
homes and neighborhood puja mandaps across the district.
Puja ceremonies were held at several educational institutions, including the
Sri Sri Sarvajanin Kendriya Durga Temple in Bandarban town and the Ujanipara
puja mandap. The mandaps resonated with the sounds of drums, conch shells and
uludhwani as devotees offered prayers through traditional rituals.
After day-long worship, evening prayers, chilla offerings and cultural
programmes have been organised at different puja venues.
The puja will conclude on Saturday morning (January 24) with the immersion of
Saraswati idols in the Sangu River through colorful processions.
