CHT peace accord implementation stressed

DHAKA, Jan 18, 2026 (BSS) – Participants at a meeting of the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Peace Accord Implementation and Monitoring Committee today underscored the urgent need for the full and effective implementation of the CHT Peace Accord.

The meeting, held at the conference room of the Complex Building adjacent to the Karnaphuli Tunnel Site Office Toll Plaza in Anwara, Chattogram, was chaired by the committee’s convener, Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain, said a press release here today. 

Among those present were Adviser for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Supradip Chakma, Chairman of the CHT Regional Council Jyotirindra Bodhipriya (Santu) Larma, Refugee Affairs Task Force Chairman (Senior Secretary) Sudatta Chakma, Secretary Mohammed Mizanur Rahman and Additional Secretary Md. Monirul Islam of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, along with other officials concerned.

During the meeting, speakers reiterated the importance of ensuring the full implementation of the CHT Peace Accord to promote lasting peace, stability and development in the region.

The government reconstituted the CHT Peace Accord Implementation and Monitoring Committee on January 12, 2025. 

The committee is currently headed by Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain, with CHT Regional Council Chairman Jyotirindra Bodhipriya (Santu) Larma and Refugee Affairs Task Force Chairman Sudatta Chakma serving as members.

This was the second meeting of the committee under the interim government, following its first meeting held on July 19 last year in Rangamati.
