RANGPUR, Dec 24, 2021 (BSS) - Rangpur division witnessed no Covid-19
casualty in the last four days as the pandemic situation continues improving
almost during the last four months.
Health officials said the number of Covid-19 related casualties currently
remains steady with 1,249 in the division.
"The last Covid-19 casualty was reported from Lalmonirhat on December 19
last," Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam told BSS today.
The district-wise breakup of the 1,249 fatalities currently stands at 293
in Rangpur, 81 in Panchagarh, 89 in Nilphamari, 69 each in Lalmonirhat and
Kurigram, 255 in Thakurgaon, 330 in Dinajpur and 63 in Gaibandha districts of
the division.
The average casualty rate currently stands at 2.24 percent in the division.
Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 55,705 as six new patients
were diagnosed after testing 183 samples at the positivity rate of 3.28
percent on Thursday in the division.
The district-wise break up of total 55,705 patients include 12,546 of
Rangpur, 3,832 Panchagarh, 4,463 of Nilphamari, 2,758 of Lalmonirhat, 4,646
of Kurigram, 7,695 of Thakurgaon, 14,889 of Dinajpur and 4,876 of Gaibandha
in the division," he said.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, a total of 3,05,625 collected samples
were tested till Thursday, and of them, 55,705 were found Covid-19 positive
with an average positivity rate of 18.23 percent in the division.
In the meantime, the total number of healed Covid-19 patients reached
53,826 with recovery of 16 more infected patients on Thursday in the division
where the average recovery rate currently stands at 96.63 percent.
The 53,826 recovered patients include 11,873 of Rangpur, 3,718 Panchagarh,
4,370 Nilphamari, 2,625 Lalmonirhat, 4,527 Kurigram, 7,409 Thakurgaon, 14,505
in Dinajpur and 4,799 Gaibandha districts in the division.
Among the 55,705 patients, 23 are undergoing treatments at isolation
units, including seven critical patients at ICU beds and four at High
Dependency Unit beds, after recovery of 53,826 patients and 1,249 deaths
while 730 are remaining now in home isolation.
"Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19
vaccine rose to 78,57,314, and among them, 51,87,169 got the second dose of
the jab till Thursday in the division," Dr Islam said.
Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi told BSS that
the pandemic situation continues to improve almost during the last four
months in the division.
"However, everyone should properly abide by the health directives and
hygiene rules to prevent another probable wave of the lethal virus amid
detection of its new Omicron variant," he said.
