Special measures being taken to reduce student dropout rate: Bidhan

SUNAMGANJ, Jan 11, 2026 (BSS) - Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder today said the government is taking special measures to reduce the dropout rate among primary school students.

The adviser made the remarks while visiting several primary schools in Madhyanagar upazila of his home district Sunamganj.

In the morning, he visited Golha Government Primary School in his native village under Sadar Union, Jamsherpur Government Primary School and Madhyanagar Bazar Government Primary School. After completing the visits, he stayed at his residence.

Later, he inspected  Madhyanagar Government Primary School in the afternoon.

When his attention was drawn to the existing shortage of teachers in primary schools of Madhyanagar upazila, the adviser said the problem would be resolved very soon as the teacher recruitment process is currently underway.

Regarding the school feeding programme, Prof Bidhan said all primary schools across the country would be brought under the programme gradually.

Senior officials of the local administration and other concerned were present during the visits.
