SUNAMGANJ, Jan 09, 2026 (BSS) - Adilur Rahman Khan, Adviser for Industries and Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, today announced that production at the Chhatak Cement Company Limited will resume soon.
"The revival of the facility will be achieved by transitioning from the existing wet process to a more modern 'Dry Process' method of cement manufacturing," he said while inspecting the factory in the Sunamganj district.
Adilur emphasized that the government is committed to industrialization and job creation.
He noted that the path shown by the July Uprising would guide future elected governments in establishing new industrial plants and enhancing employment opportunities across the nation.
The adviser was accompanied by several senior officials, including the Secretary of the Local Government Division, the Industries Secretary, and the Chief Engineer of the LGED.
Md. Fazlur Rahman, Chairman of the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC), stated during the visit that his organization is actively working to ensure that the mill's production starts as quickly as possible.
Earlier in the day, Adilur inspected ongoing infrastructure rehabilitation work on the Chhatak-Katakhali road via Doarabazar.
This project, managed by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), is part of a broader initiative to repair rural roads and infrastructure damaged by Cyclone Amphan and recent floods.
The transition of the factory from a "Wet Process" to a "Dry Process" is similar to replacing an old, fuel-heavy steam engine with a sleek, high-efficiency electric motor; it transforms an outdated, resource-intensive operation into a modern system that is faster and more sustainable.
