JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Jan 5, 2026 (BSS) - Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities have expelled a student for one academic year and ordered filing of a case against him after foreign liquor was recovered from his possession at a residential hall on the campus.
The incident occurred on January 4, 2026, when 20 bottles of foreign liquor were seized from beneath a bed locker in Room No. 723 of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam Hall during a raid conducted around 9:30pm, according to an office order issued this afternoon.
Acting Registrar A B M Azizur Rahman signed the order.
Following an investigation, the university imposed the punishment on Md Fazle Azuad, a student of the Government and Politics Department of the 2022-23 academic session (52nd Batch).
He was found guilty of violating Clause 4(1) (C) of the Jahangirnagar University Students’ Disciplinary Ordinance, 2018, the order said.
As per the order, the student has been expelled from the university for one academic year with immediate effect.
The Deputy Registrar (Security-1) has also been instructed to take necessary steps to file a case against the student, it added.
