MANIKGANJ, Jan 4, 2026 (BSS) - The ferry Services between Paturia -Daulatdia resumed after 11.45 hours suspension which was suspended at 11.30 pm on
Saturday for dense fog disruption, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) authorities concerned sources said.
During this period all the engine driven boats and launches were also suspended for avoiding the untoward situation the Paturia ghat sources said.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Paturia Ghat Deputy General Manager (DGM) Abdus Salam said the ferry movement between Paturia -Daulatdia was suspended at 11.30 pm on Saturday as the dense fog blanketed the river bed of the Padma river route reducing its visibility.
Five ferries-Bir Shreshtha Jahangir, Bir Shreshtha Ruhul Amin, Cumilla, Bhaigar and Shah Paran-were stranded at Paturia Ghat, while four ferries-Language Martyred Shaheed Barkat, Enayetpuri, Hasna Hena and Khan Jahan Ali-were stranded at Daulatdia Ghat. Another ferry, Bir Shreshtha Motiur Rahman, remained stranded midstream in the Padma, carrying vehicles and passengers.
DGM Abdus Salam said the ferry movement resumed after 11.45 hours on Sunday at 11.15 am. All the ferries are now running normally with full load the sources said.Meanwhile the ferry movement between Aricha -Kazirhat on the river Jamuna was suspended at 10.30 pm on Saturday due to dense fog disruption which was resumed at 11.30 am on Saturday when eased the dense fog after 13 hours suspension, Bangladesh Island Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Aricha Ghat Manager Md Abdullah said.
All the ferries are now running normally with full load the sources added.
