DHAKA, Jan 1, 2026 (BSS) – National flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines today reported a net profit of Tk 785.21 crore in the fiscal year 2024–25, marking a record performance and extending its profitability streak for the fifth consecutive year.
The disclosure was made at the airline’s Annual General Meeting held on December 30, 2025, where the income and expenditure accounts for the previous fiscal year were presented, Biman said today in a press release.
The meeting was chaired by Chairman of Biman’s Board of Directors Sheikh Bashir Uddin and attended by board members and representatives of shareholder ministries.
During FY 2024–25, Biman recorded a total revenue of Tk 11,559 crore, reflecting a 9.46 percent increase compared to the previous fiscal year. The airline also achieved an operational profit of Tk 1,602 crore, while its net profit rose by 178 percent year-on-year.
In the same fiscal year, Biman operated 21 aircraft to 30 domestic and international destinations, transporting a total of 3.383 million passengers, one percent higher than the previous year.
The airline also carried 43,918 metric tons of cargo, earning Tk 925 crore, a 45.21 percent increase from the preceding fiscal year.
Additionally, Biman provided ground handling services to 31,112 flights of foreign airlines, serving more than 6.1 million passengers during the year.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines, a fully self-financed state-owned enterprise, has not received any government subsidy over the past 54 years.
In January 2025, the airline recorded the highest ticket sales in its history, reflecting growing passenger confidence and market acceptance.
Officials said fleet modernization, expansion of profitable international routes, improved in-flight services, faster baggage delivery, and modernization of airport processes contributed to enhanced passenger satisfaction.
Strict adherence to international safety standards has also helped the airline maintain a strong safety record.
Under the new management framework of the interim government, improved financial discipline, efficient resource allocation, and strengthened internal control mechanisms played a significant role in achieving the record profit, officials added.
Looking ahead, Biman plans to expand routes to new destinations, accelerate digital transformation in passenger services and operations, and further strengthen its cargo services, with the goal of emerging as a leading airline in South Asia, said the release.
