BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia -File Photo

DHAKA, Dec 30, 2025 (BSS) - Preparations are underway to bury BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia beside the grave of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman at Zia Udyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.

Grave excavation has begun at the designated site next to the mausoleum of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. Law enforcement personnel are maintaining vigilant security at Zia Udyan during the preparations.

Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury visited the site this afternoon to inspect the grave excavation and overall arrangements. Home Affairs Secretary Nasimul Gani and other concerned officials were present with him.

Former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia passed away at 6:00 am today while receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
