DHAKA, Dec 28, 2025 (BSS) – Education Adviser Professor Dr Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar today said the government has made every effort to provide quality and accurate textbooks to students.
“Despite various obstacles and pressures, there has been no shortfall in fulfilling this responsibility,” he said while inaugurating the programme titled ‘Uploading of soft copies of textbooks for the 2026 academic year to the website’ here.
The education adviser said the Ministry of Education and the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) held several meetings on ensuring the accuracy and quality of textbooks for students.
He said the hard-copy book editing work was carried out over several weeks by about 250 skilled teachers from different schools in Dhaka. In addition, opinions were invited from teachers across the country through online platforms, he added.
In this process, Dr Abrar said around 6,000 teachers provided feedback on various issues, which were vetted and incorporated into the revisions by an expert committee.
He said providing accurate textbooks was the top priority. “At the printing stage, various practical issues were raised in meetings with the printers, such as payment of previous bills, bank loans and electricity supply. To resolve these problems, officials of the Ministry of Education, NCTB and the concerned departments worked day and night,” he added.
The education adviser said that despite pressure from various interest groups, the government did not back down from its commitment to providing accurate and quality textbooks.
So far, he said, 26 printing companies have completed 100 percent book supply, while six more printing companies will supply books tomorrow.
The education adviser said that although there were proposals for printing abroad or adopting a direct purchase method, trust was placed in domestic printers. With the cooperation of all concerned, the government has successfully fulfilled this responsibility, he added.
“We worked with the belief that we could, and today we can say that we can celebrate,” he said.
