Tarique Rahman extends Christmas greetings

DHAKA, Dec 24, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has extended warm greetings to the Christian community in Bangladesh and across the world on the occasion of Christmas.

In a post on his verified Facebook page, Tarique Rahman said Christmas is the biggest religious festival of the Christian community and wished happiness, peace, good health and prosperity to Christians at home and abroad.

He said Jesus Christ, a symbol of forgiveness, mercy and love for humanity, was born on this sacred and glorious day for Christians. Jesus Christ came to the world with a message of harmony among people, he added, noting that the essence of all religions lies in service to and welfare of humanity.

He also stressed that people of all faiths, regardless of religion or caste, must work together for the wellbeing of the country and its people.

Referring to Jesus Christ, Tarique Rahman said a large population of the world follows his religion and philosophy. 

Throughout history, great personalities have guided people towards truth and justice through selfless dedication and inspired humanity to eliminate falsehood and achieve moral excellence, he added. 

In the same way, Jesus Christ continuously inspired his followers with the spirit of love for humanity, he said.

Tarique Rahman also said Christmas has become a universal religious festival and described Bangladesh as a land of communal harmony, where people of all faiths have long been observing their religious rituals freely and joyfully.

He noted that Jesus Christ taught people to love, serve, forgive and uphold justice, and called upon everyone to pledge to shun hatred, malice and anger, establish peace and stability in society, and resist all forms of injustice and cruelty.
