Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said the government has taken all necessary measures to allow Christians to celebrate Christmas with due religious fervor and in a festive environment.
“Christmas Day is the largest religious festival of the Christian community. Required security measures have already been taken to ensure peaceful and festive celebrations,” he said, adding that appropriate security arrangements have been put in place at every church.
The Home Adviser noted that posh areas of the capital, including Gulshan and Banani, have been brought under stringent security coverage to avert any untoward incidents.
Law enforcement agencies have also enhanced regular patrols on key roads across Dhaka to make the security arrangements foolproof.
He further said the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has been instructed to take necessary steps for improved traffic management during the festive period.
Meanwhile, the DMP has imposed a temporary ban on the use of fireworks, crackers, lanterns and gas balloons in the capital to ensure a peaceful and solemn celebration of Christmas.
According to a DMP notification, the ban will remain in force from 6:00 pm on December 24, 2025, to 6:00 am on December 26, 2025.
The decision was taken in the interest of public safety and to maintain law and order during the festival.
DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali has sought the full cooperation of city residents to help ensure that the holy Christmas festival is celebrated smoothly and safely.
The police have emphasized that compliance with the directive will help maintain a calm, secure and festive atmosphere across the capital.
