KHULNA, Dec 23, 2025 (BSS) – An international-standard WiFi network, Eduroam, has been officially launched at Khulna University (KU) to provide seamless and secure internet access for teachers, students, and researchers.

Vice-Chancellor of the university Professor Dr Md Rezaul Karim formally inaugurated the Eduroam service at the university cafeteria today.

Director of Student Affairs Professor Dr Md Nazmus Sadat, Director of the ICT Cell Professor Dr Sheikh Alamgir Hossain, students from different disciplines, and relevant officials were present at the inauguration ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor said the introduction of Eduroam is an important step towards transforming KU into a smart and modern research-oriented institution.

He noted that KU teachers and students would now be able to enjoy uninterrupted and secure internet connectivity while pursuing higher studies, conducting research, or participating in seminars at home and abroad, which would further accelerate their academic and research activities.

Eduroam is a globally recognised secure international networking service for educational and research institutions. Using their home university credentials, teachers and students can access WiFi networks at any Eduroam-enabled campus worldwide.

Once logged in, devices automatically connect when entering any Eduroam network zone.
The network ensures a high level of security and protects users’ data privacy.

Currently, universities and research institutions in more than 100 countries are connected under the Eduroam network. Teachers and students of KU will be able to use the service free of charge.

The university’s ICT Cell said students can set up the Eduroam network on their laptops or smartphones using their official university email ID and password.

Detailed guidelines in this regard are available at the respective disciplines and on the university website.
