DHAKA, Dec 19, 2025 (BSS) - The body of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) this evening on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight, amid tight security and widespread public mourning.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines Flight BG 585, carrying the body of Sharif Osman Hadi, who died while undergoing treatment in Singapore, landed at HSIA at 5:49pm, Biman officials said.
The flight had taken off from Singapore Changi International Airport at 4:03pm local time (2:03pm Dhaka time) en route to Dhaka with the body on board.
Biman has taken all necessary measures to ensure the smooth and dignified repatriation of the body of the martyred leader from the aircraft, Biman General Manager (Public Relations) Boshra Islam told BSS.
The body of Osman Hadi is scheduled to be taken out through Gate No. 8 of the airport, where members of the Bangladesh Army, Armed Forces Battalion (AFB) and police were deployed in large numbers to maintain security.
Sharif Osman Hadi passed away at Singapore General Hospital, triggering widespread mourning across political circles, activists of Inqilab Mancha and the general public.
In a Facebook post, Inqilab Mancha reiterated that Allah has accepted the great revolutionary Osman Hadi as a martyr in the struggle against Indian hegemony.
The organisation also announced that a janaza will be held in Bangladesh on Saturday after Zuhr prayers at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital.
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has declared a one-day state mourning on Saturday following the tragic death of Sharif Osman Hadi.
On December 12, Hadi sustained a critical head injury after being shot by assailants while campaigning in Old Paltan in the capital.
After receiving initial treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital and Evercare Hospital, he was airlifted to Singapore by an air ambulance on December 15 for advanced medical treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
