PANCHAGARH, Dec 4, 2025 (BSS) - A thick blanket of fog has engulfed the district as intolerable cold continues to tighten its grip on the northern district.

Fog fell almost like rain throughout the night, leaving roads shrouded in mist well into Thursday morning. The persistent cold has brought daily life across the district to a near standstill.

At 9 am today, the Tentulia Weather Observation Station recorded a minimum temperature of 12 degrees Celsius, the same temperature recorded at the same time on Wednesday. Despite the chilly morning, the day’s maximum temperature rose to 27 degrees Celsius.

Residents of the northern district told BSS that the cold has been intensifying over the past several days. Despite the sun appears,  cold weather prevails and people  prefer to stay in indoor.

From night until morning, roads remain covered in dense fog, reducing visibility and disrupting movement.

While temperatures climb slightly during the day, the cold returns sharply after the afternoon, making evenings particularly harsh.

According to Jitendranath Roy, senior observer at the Tentulia Meteorological Observatory, the minimum temperature has been fluctuating between 12 and 13 degrees Celsius in recent days.

Residents are advised to take precautionary measures as the severity of winter continues in the district.
