DHAKA, Dec 14, 2021 (BSS) - The High Court (HC) today issued a rule
asking authorities concerned to explain in four weeks as to why it shall not
pass order to give Taka one crore in compensation to the family of Zihad
Hossain, 7, who got killed after coming under a collapsed wall in capital's
Azimpur.
A High Court division bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md
Mostafizur Rahman passed the order, after holding hearing on a writ jointly
filed by Zihad's father Nazir Hossain and Ain o Odhikar Foundation.
The court asked eight officials including housing and public works
secretary and chief engineer of Dhaka South City Corporation. Advocate Syed
Mohiuddin Kabir moved the plea before the court.
Zihad was going to his school, holding hand of his father on November 9,
when a portion of a boundary wall of Azimpur Sheikh Saheb Bazar Government
Quarter fell on him. Nazir Hossain promptly rescued Zihad from under the
rubble and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the
attending doctors declared him dead.
