Int'l conference on ‘Bangabandhu' ends at JU

 SAVAR, Dec 13, 2021 (BSS) - A two-day-long international conference on 'Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and His Legacy' concluded at Jahangirnagar University (JU) today.
 
University Grants Commission chairman Prof Kazi Shahidullah was present as the chief guest while former Vice-Chancellor of Rabindra Bharati University Prof. Dr. Pabitra Sarkar chaired the conference.
 
Addressing the conference, Prof Shahidullah said, “More research should be conducted on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman”
 
Former governor of Bangladesh Bank and Bangabandhu Chair Professor of Dhaka University Dr. Atiur Rahman presented a paper on 'Bangabandhu's aesthetic leadership and his campaign for people's emancipation.'
 
Obaidul Moktadir Chowdhury MP, JU Pro-VC Prof Nurul Alam, and JU Treasurer Prof Rasheda Akhtar attended the conference as guests of honor.
 
The conference featured a total of 19 sessions where 102 papers were presented.  
 
Meanwhile, the Managing Director and CEO of Agrani Bank was honored with a special award for his step to set up Bangabandhu corner at the Agrani Bank offices very first.
 
International Institute of People’s History (IIPH), JU History department, JU Archaeology department, Bangabandhu Institute of Comparative Literature and Culture organised the program in association with Paschimbanga Itihas Samsad of India, Centre for Bangladesh Studies of Rabindra Bharati University, and Research and Development Collective of Bangladesh.
 
Besides, Pro-VC of Bangladesh Open University Prof. Nasim Banu Prof. Dr. Mesbah Kamal of DU History department and president of International Institute of People’s History, and Prof ATM Atiqur Rahman of JU History department were present.  
 
JU vice-chancellor Professor Farzana Islam inaugurated the conference virtually on Sunday where Planning Minister M A Mannan was present as the chief guest.
